Summer riding, had me a blast

It is summer riding. Only a few small snow patches remain on the higher alpine trails in the Methow.

Winthrop Has Gone to the Dogs

This photo is one reason why I always try to have my camera with me. I was lucky to come upon this shot a month or so ago. Now the Winthrop Marshal (owner of this dog) has retired so there will never be another chance to get this great shot again.

Flowers! Flowers Everywhere!

The Methow Valley is bursting with sunflowers. Lupine and other wildflowers are just starting to show as well. Lovely.

Takin' it to the streets

One of the greatest gifts for cyclists in the Methow is the opportunity to ride up the North Cascades Highway before it open to cars. Usually we get this experience during month of April. It can be a chilly ride, especially downhill, but it is so worth the effort. The North Cascades Highway is one of the most scenic mountain drives in the nation. This photo was taken on April 24th just hours before the gates were opened again to automobiles. Now we wait again til next April.

And the Winner is......

This photo was chosen as the Grand Prize winner in the BC Nordic Photo Contest. I was honored to hear I won the prize. Brian and I had a great vacation to Whistler and Callaghan Valley this winter. This photo was taken at Callaghan Valley (home of the 2010 Winter Olympics) on a trail appropriately titled "Top of the World". We are looking forward to going back to Whistler again soon.
